Disorders of Sex Development (DSD) is a controversial synonym for Intersexuality. It was developed as a more descriptive term for intersex, but some intersex people have lashed out against it, since it refers to a natural variation as a "disorder"[1]. A particularly outspoken activist against the terminology is Curtis Hinkle, of Organisation Intersex International (OII).
