Asexuality and The Kinsey Scale
In the Kinsey reports of 1948 and 1953, Kinsey added a grade for asexuality as well; this separate category, X, was created for those with "no socio-sexual contacts or reactions."[1][2] The Kinsey scale can be seen at the top of the AVEN Triangle as well as on many other models.
Table of the scale
The scale is as follows:
Rating | Description |
---|---|
0 | Exclusively heterosexual - Straight |
1 | Predominantly heterosexual |
2 | Slightly heterosexual |
3 | Equally heterosexual and homosexual - Bisexual |
4 | Slightly homosexual |
5 | Predominantly homosexual |
6 | Exclusively homosexual - Gay |
X | Asexual |
