This is a list of AVEN's former moderators, including present moderators. AVEN's present moderators are also listed here and here, alongside their roles. Numerous dates are uncited as no publicly citable information exists, earlier dates may also be vague or unstated due to missing or lost information.

• Dates in red indicate that the moderator had become an administrator, which subsequently ends their role as a moderator.
• Dates in pink indicate that the moderator had transferred to the project team. Historically, a moderator could serve as both a moderator and Project Team member, though these shared terms were recently abolished, meaning that a mod who runs in a PT election and wins would subsequently step down as a moderator.
• Dates in blue indicate that the moderator was appointed as a Tech Admin, subsequently ending their role as a moderator.

Seasonal name changes are not included in this list. Prior to December 2004, moderators were commonly appointed by AVENguy, or a present administrator. This table is based on this thread, most of these names are alphabetized based on the member's username at the time of election or appointment... exceptions include Orbit (appointed as Hawke), Jayann (appointed as Jayann2002) and Xenon (elected as Torgo), other moderators have also changed their username while serving as a mod. EGD, Fosco and inanechild are no longer present on AVEN, their accounts have since been deleted or removed for various reasons.

History

Selie was temporarily appointed to watch the forums in July 2002 ^[1]. AVEN's first moderating team was set up in December 2003 as a response to increased troll activity ^[2][3]. This team was appointed by AVENguy, and consisted of...

The first elections were set up a year later, in December 2004 ^[4]. Three administrators and several moderators were publicly elected by the members of AVEN. These moderator elections were held in two halves, members could vote for two candidates in these elections, and the top four candidates in each election were appointed as mods (the team originally planned to appoint eight new mods^[5]). Co-moderator elections and positions were recently scrapped. Official elections now include a "None Of The Above" option.
