The Project Team was proposed by David Jay way back in June 2006. Prior to this, visibility projects were informal and mostly headed by AVENguy (David Jay), with the occasional volunteers. Interestingly enough, DJ had raised the PT idea months before the very first Admod elections took place.

The Project Team was first proposed by David Jay back in June 2006. Prior to this, AVEN was heavily forum-centric, with far less focus on visibility. There had been little focus on structured  projects prior to this, (excluding this one event). David Jay had pretty much lead every project personally up until this point, with the occasional volunteers. There was no structured organization beyond the Moderating team, which had been selected by DJ (Interestingly enough, DJ had raised the PT idea just months before the very first Admod elections took place).

Nominations for this new team were held in June 2006 and lead by AVENguy, less than a week after he proposed the idea. The nominees had to send in their nominations by eMail or private message, directly to AVENguy or Cashew (a present admin at the time). AVENguy had originally sought to set up a temporary forum for the voting process (due to an error with phpBB's poll software), this forum continues to exist as the Elections Forum.

There was a period of uncertainty between February and May 2007, which was brought to light by Cashew on the 23rd of May 2007. This was a huge blow to the Project Team, leaving Hallucegenia as the only regularly active member.

Revision as of 15:08, 30 October 2013

This is a list AVEN's (known) former Project Team members, who've served as a PT member between July 2006 and the present day.

The Project Team was proposed by David Jay way back in June 2006[1]. Prior to this, visibility projects were informal and mostly headed by AVENguy (David Jay), with the occasional volunteers. Interestingly enough, DJ had raised the PT idea months before the very first Admod elections took place.

Nominations for this new team were held in June 2006 and lead by AVENguy, less than a week after he proposed the idea[2]. The nominees had to send in their nominations by eMail or private message, directly to AVENguy or Cashew (a present admin at the time). AVENguy had originally sought to set up a temporary forum for the voting process (due to an error with phpBB's poll software[3]), this forum continues to exist as the Elections Forum.

Five positions were advertised, and only five members nominated themselves, thus the scheduled re-elections were not held. The following members were appointed as temporary team members[4].

2007/2008 (Second period)

July 2007 nominations thread

There was a period of uncertainty between February and May 2007, which was discussed by Cashew[5]. This sparked a large and heated debate, which proved too much for Triple A, who subsequently resigned later that day[6]. This was a huge blow to the Project Team, leaving Hallucegenia as the only regularly active member. This is somewhat relevant, the state of the Project Team was reviewed, and the majority voted in favor of "open(ing) up the Project Team forum to everyone and immediately hold an election for one or more Project Team moderators, who will remain nominally separate from the rest of the admod team and arbitrate project decisions", establishing the current Project Team structure as a result.

The team reviewed the length of served terms and period lengths in October, and decided that the period should be increased from six months to one year[7].

2009/2010 (Fourth period)

The original discussion thread

The next scheduled re-elections took place in August 2010. Nominations were taken in Announcements this time, rather than Visibility & Education. Combined roles were common at this point; EGD ran for the JFF mod spot in November 2009, GoAllyGoGo ran for the Announcements and Gender Forum mod spots in March 2010, and. . .but there are sounds ran for World Watch & Asexual Relationships in July 2010. All three won their elections, giving them combined roles.

2010/2011 (Fifth period)

At some point early in 2011, the admods decided to scrap combined roles (if a mod seeks to run for a PT position, they're required to resign from their mod position, and vice versa). Later in September 2011, the period between scheduled re-elections was increased from one year to two years.

Project Team members now serve individual terms and periods, rather than subjecting the whole team to scheduled elections. If someone steps down before then, an election will be held to elect a new PT member, who will be elected to a two-year term from the date they were elected. As a result, the elections will from then be staggered, giving the team more continuity and allowing new members to learn from existing members.

The following Project Team members have ran or have yet to run in "staggered elections"...

2013 and onwards

Project Team elections are now staggered, thus individual PT members will run in individual elections rather than the whole team sharing a shared term. Reelections took place in September 2013.
