A nonlibidoist is a person who does not have a sex drive and has never had one, and hence does not experience sexual urges or desires (and in particular, does not masturbate.) Nonlibidoism is a much more stringent definition than AVEN's standard description of asexuality. A large percentage of asexuals do have sex drives, but still lack any sexual attraction, and on a more abstract level many believe the libido to be an innate and indivisible part of the creative subconscious, as defined by Jung[1]. Nonlibidoists would not consider the large majority of self-defined asexuals to be "truly" asexual, and have thus dropped the use of the term, which they believe has "by now become almost synonymous for solo-sexual [or] masturbator."[2]
Due to these differences in definition, the nonlibidoist movement does not have a large presence on AVEN but is largely centered around its own website, the Official Nonlibidoist Society.
