Transphobia is a hatred or fear of transgender people, that is people who identify as the opposite gender as their biological sex (women in men's bodies or men in women's bodies).
Transgender people are often persecuted. Many people feel that being transgender is a violation of some "divine order" or "the way things are". Bashing of trans-people can include different forms of aggression, from ridiculing to serious crimes such as rape or murder.
