Hi, I have just begun researching [[asexuality]]/[[grey-A]] because I am starting to wonder whether that is the direction I am headed in. I definitely was not always that way, particularly during adolescence. But I think that over time, after a very long period of sexual atrophy/celibacy (four years in a "cultlike" church that didn't permit sex, another four in prison, and two of being poverty-stricken and without transportation and the one of just being in my usual state of being not particularly socially skilled and therefore having trouble finding girlfriends), it was almost as though I sublimated those desires into my work (writing, coding, philosophizing, etc.); and yet, I was always passionate about my work so maybe that has nothing to do with it. I'm not sure what I would do if I were invited into a sexual situation (I feel like I might be apathetic about it), although I still fantasize about women when I masturbate.

Maybe it has something to do with getting older too; although even when I was younger, I often chose other priorities over seeking out romance/sex. I would say that my low sex drive is due to depression, except that my other interests haven't gone away and I don't have any particularly strong desire to die. I don't have much of a revulsion to sex, although there probably is a cognitive aspect to my indifference, in that my attitudes toward sex have historically been mostly selfish (I looked out primarily for my own pleasure, although I would acquiesce to requests that conflicted with what I wanted to do, albeit usually reluctantly rather than out of an eager desire to please the other person).

Despite these feelings/confusion, I still have a strong interest in political issues surrounding sexuality, since I think that they impact freedom in general. I am a MediaWiki developer, a system administrator at Mises Wiki and PolyWiki.org, and owner of Nathania.org, Libertapedia.org, ChildWiki.net and SuicideWiki.org. Most of my wikis are, as a practical matter, one-person operations, although I leave them OpenEdit as a matter of principle and invite people to edit.
